What is the difference between Oyster Shells &
Calcium Carbonate?
Both calcium products come from fossilized sources. Our Oyster
shells come from fossilized oyster beds (at least 25,000 years old)
in the Atlantic Ocean; Calcium Carbonate is from fossilized rock
(at least 300,000 years old) in the Western United States.
What purification processes have these calcium sources
gone through by the time they reach Erie Rochelle's
manufacturing facility?
The Oyster Shells go through a triple sanitation process to
guarantee minimum lead levels. This extensive sanitation is
necessary due to the microbes associated with ocean water. Since
Calcium Carbonate comes from fossilized rock, deep under the
ground, there is no microbial sanitation needed to assure minimum
lead levels.
